Sports Massage in Málaga · Harmony Sanctuary®

The Sports Massage is designed for people who train seriously: deep techniques, cross-friction and passive stretches that release overloaded muscles, prevent injuries and speed up recovery. At Harmony Sanctuary® we apply it at our centre in the heart of Málaga, adapting the intensity to your sport and the stage of your season.

🏃 What is sports massage?

Sports massage combines deep pressure, cross-friction, intense kneading, passive stretches and myofascial decompression. It targets specific muscle chains: quadriceps and hamstrings for runners, lats and deltoids for swimmers, soleus and calves for cyclists, lower back and trapezius for strength sports. It can be pre-competition (activating, shorter), post-competition (recovery) or maintenance between sessions.

  • Improves joint mobility and muscle elasticity.

👤 Who is it for?

  • Runners, cyclists and triathletes following a training plan.
  • People who do CrossFit, strength training or HIIT with heavy loads.
  • Athletes with chronic knots in a specific area.
  • Anyone taking part in a race or competition who wants to arrive loose.
  • Anyone who trains 3+ times a week and needs maintenance (alternate with a Swedish massage in recovery weeks).

🌿 What the session is like at Harmony Sanctuary®

We start with a short consultation about your sport, training calendar and the areas you load most. Together we decide on the approach: recovery, maintenance or pre-competition. The session is done face down and face up, covering the relevant muscle chain.

The pressure is deep and can be intense at trigger points, always within your threshold. We combine kneading, cross-friction, sustained pressure and passive stretches at the end. Afterwards we recommend drinking plenty of water and, after a competition, avoiding heavy training for the next 24 hours. To speed up recovery after a very demanding event, add a session of Lymphatic Drainage.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Will it hurt?

It will be intense, not painful. You will feel strong pressure on trigger points; we work right at your threshold, never beyond it.

When should I have it, before or after competing?

Before (pre-competition) we use a shorter activating technique, 24–48 hours beforehand. After (post-competition) a deep recovery massage, 24 hours after the event.

How long should I wait between the session and training?

If it is a recovery session, rest for the rest of the day. If it is maintenance, a light workout the next day is no problem.

How often?

During heavy training (an intense mesocycle): every 7–10 days. Maintenance: every 2–3 weeks. In recovery/transition phases: once a month.

60 or 90 minutes?

60 for a specific chain (e.g. legs for a runner). 90 for the whole body when you are carrying general fatigue.
